Richard Caring’s Caprice Holdings is hiring 180 staff, including "London’s first grape feeder", for its upcoming restaurant Bacchanalia in Mayfair.
A job advert posted on the company's Instagram page said that prospective grape feeders must have “gorgeous hands” and a “basic grasp of Greek and Latin”, while job perks include “regular manicures and the finest food and wine”.
Bacchanalia will open on One Mount Street later this year and is set to offer an “immersive experience” celebrating Greek and Italian cuisine.
While the fruit-feeding role may be a PR move and is not listed on Caprice Holdings’ recruitment website, the restaurant is hiring for multiple positions, including chefs, sommeliers and waiters.
Richard Clark, managing director of Caprice Holdings, said: “Bacchanalia will offer a completely unique dining experience inspired by the opulent Bacchanalian feasts of the ancient world.”
Bacchanalia’s dining room will be filled with 2,000-year-old antiques, larger sculptures by artist Damien Hirst, and period and modern Greek and Roman art.
It will host a weekly programme of international DJs and live performances, and the restaurant will also feature a private dining room, outdoor terrace and an “exclusive” members-only club named Apollo’s Muse.
Culinary consultant Athinagoras Kostakos, who is also culinary director of Scorpios Mykonos and Noema Mykonos, is creating the Greek and Italian menu. He will be joined by executive chefs Enis Spacho and Theo Zarikakis, who have worked in London’s Meraki, Mazi and Temper restaurants between them.
The bar team will be led by group wine director Terry Kandylis, former head sommelier at 67 Pall Mall. He will be supported by head sommelier Tasos Karakasis, formerly of Marcus Belgravia, and Tiago Mira, former bar manager at the Goring and Annabel’s.
Clark added: “We have an incredible global team at the helm of the restaurant – from the kitchen, to the bar and the restaurant floor who will bring new innovative dishes and experiences to diners.”
Caprice Holdings’ other high-end London restaurants include Scott’s, Daphne’s and Sexy Fish.
Bacchanalia will open in late 2022.
