The 128-room Resident Farringdon is due to open in 2027 as the group’s seventh hotel overall.
The Resident hotel group is set to open its fifth London site in Farringdon in 2027 as the business plans to add up to 2,000 rooms over the next five years.
City of London Council granted planning permission for the development of the 128-room hotel to Mactaggart Family & Partners, the founder and majority owner of Resident hotels.
The property has been designed by EPR Architects, which has previously been involved with the Ned, the OWO and NoMad hotels.
Resident Farringdon will include a third party-operated restaurant, a café, a library lounge, retail spaces and a garden.
The team have also been working with sustainable development advisory firm Arup to ensure the hotel implements a low-carbon ventilation system and diverts over 95% of the demolition and construction waste to landfill.
Once complete, the Resident Farringdon will mark the group’s seventh hotel overall.
William Laxton, chief executive of Mactaggart Family & Partners, said: “The Resident Farringdon will offer guests a home-from-home experience, from which they can explore this thriving neighbourhood, with bars, restaurants, galleries, museums and performance venues only steps away, all activated by some of the best infrastructure in Europe in the form of the Elizabeth Line at Farringdon East.”
Resident Edinburgh is due to open in August under general manager Gillian Mylles.
The Resident opened its first hotel in London’s Kensington in 2006 and currently has sites in Covent Garden, Soho, Victoria and Liverpool.
