RedCat Pub Company, the investment vehicle founded by former Greene King boss Rooney Anand, has acquired the Crown hotel in Boroughbridge, Yorkshire.
The hotel will be operated by RedCat’s subsidiary, the Coaching Inn Group, which it bought last August when it had 18 sites.
Coaching Inn Group now operates 24 inns in market towns across the UK, with RedCat adding six sites to its portfolio in the past six months.
The Crown hotel features 37 bedrooms and a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, fitness suites and sun shower.
RedCat was launched by Anand in February 2021 to capitalise on a boom in pubs coming on the market amidst the pandemic. It now operates around 100 pubs and pub hotels, with approximately 1,000 bedrooms across its estate.
Kevin Charity, chief executive of the Coaching Inn Group, said the group was “actively looking for new opportunities” to expand with RedCat’s support. Anand said: “Kevin and the Coaching Inn Group team are a class act and have a strong track record of identifying and running top-quality pub hotels. RedCat are delighted to be able to support the business and its continued expansion.”
Julian Troup, head of UK hotels agency at Colliers, brokered the sale, acting on behalf of the owners.
