Red Carnation acquires Hatch Hall in Dublin

Red Carnation Hotels has added a third property to its Irish portfolio following the acquisition of Hatch Hall in Dublin.

The hotel group, owned by Lifetime Achievement Catey award winner Beatrice Tollman, already owns and operates Ashford Castle and the Lodge at Ashford Castle, both in County Mayo.

Former Victorian university residence Hatch Hall was used by its most recent owner, East Coast Catering Ireland, to house asylum seekers on behalf of the Department of Justice.

It is expected to be transformed into a five-star boutique hotel after planning permission has been granted.

CBRE Ireland’s John Hughes brokered the deal but declined to confirm the sale price.

He told The Caterer: “The next step will be, I presume, that [Red Carnation] goes for planning permission for change of use to hotel use.

“The building itself does require refurbishment and putting a luxury hotel in that location and that building… it’s well suited to it.”
