Raphael Herzog appointed GM of De Vere Tortworth Court

The 201-bedroom De Vere Tortworth Court has announced the appointment of Raphael Herzog as general manager.

His appointment at the Gloucestershire property follows the hotel's recent multimillion-pound refurbishment, which has seen the opening of the new 1853 Restaurant and bar and Library bar, renovation of the Orangery and significant enhancements to the property's meetings and events spaces.

Herzog's previously general manager experience includes roles at the Holiday Inn Bristol; the Bristol hotel, part of the Doyle Collection; and the Courthouse Doubletree by Hilton in London.

He said: "After admiring the hotel from afar, I'm thrilled to be joining the team at De Vere Tortworth Court. The recent completion of the phase one refurbishment already presents us with many opportunities to position the property as the luxury country hotel in the area."

He replaces Graeme Barclay, who spent seven months in the role before leaving in January to join the Mercure Bristol Holland House.

Neil Parry has also been appointed deputy general manager at the property from his most recent position as hotel manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham.

De Vere is a collection of 20 modern event spaces and country estate hotels owned by Starwood Capital, which pumped £100m into restoring the properties ahead of relaunching the brand last year.

Following the sale of the Principal brand and two De Vere properties to Foncière des Régions and InterContinental Hotel Group, the American private investment firm is looking for a new owner for the remaining 13 De Vere hotels.
