Polpo looks to sell off two sites including Polpetto after turbulent year

The Polpo restaurant group has put two of its sites up for sale, in a move that could potentially bring the Venetian chain's portfolio down to just five locations.

Polpo's Notting Hill Gate site has been put on the market with a value of £220,000 for the 5,400 sq ft site. Polpetto on Berwick street is also on the market for a premium of £395,000. In the 2019 Michelin guide the restaurant retained its bib gourmand for the fifth year running.

The sales would follow a year of turbulence for both the firm and Polpetto as an individual site. In October Anthea Stephenson joined the Soho concept to lead the kitchen team following a relaunch, but left two months later.

Meanwhile at the group level MD Scott Macdonald was revealed to have left the firm in November after 18 months of work. His tenure included the selling off of sites in Exeter, Bristol and the Ape and Bird Site in London's Cambridge Circus.

If the sales proceed as expected, the firm will be left with just five sites - Duke of York Square, Chelsea; Maiden Lane, Covent Garden; Beak Street, Soho; Cowcross Street, Smithfield and New Road, Brighton. The company also operates the Spuntino "scruffy small plates" concept in Soho and Heathrow Airport.

CDG Leisure has been appointed to sell the sites.
