A woman was left with a burning sensation after a substance was thrown on her while she was at a pub in Basingstoke.
Police are appealing for information after the substance, which is not thought to have been acid, was thrown on her at the Golden Lion pub in Jay’s Close between 9.30pm and 10pm on Saturday 10 February.
Officers have said the 52-year-old woman was walking through the pub when the substance was thrown in her hair and on her back and caused a burning sensation to her skin and her hair to matt.
She was left extremely distressed having suffered reddening and blisters to her skin and required most of her hair to be cut off.
Two men aged 48 and 53, both from Basingstoke, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and have been released on bail until 10 May.
Police are working to identify what the substance was.
A band was playing in the crowded pub and police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
