Penny Moore to step down as chief executive of Hospitality Action

Hospitality Action chief executive Penny Moore is to step down from the charity at the end of the year.

Moore joined Hospitality Action in 2004 from Bidvest (now Bidfood), where she was director of buying, when the benevolent charity had a turnover of £760,000 and 514 beneficiaries. The organisation now has a turnover of £1.7m and supports more than 2000 beneficiaries financially.

A further 100,000 current and former hospitality industry employees receive help through the employee assistance programme Moore established at Hospitality Action. The confidential service offers advice and support on a range of issues including health and wellbeing, working life, and financial matters through a 24 hour web chat and telephone service, as well as face-to-face counselling.

Moore said: "It has been so rewarding to work within this great industry increasing the awareness of the charity and promoting the work of Hospitality Action.

"It has been an amazing experience to work with a fantastic team and have the support of the great people in the hospitality industry. I feel the time is now right to step aside and hand over to someone who will continue to develop the charity in the future. The end of our 180th birthday year seemed an appropriate time."

Hospitality Action's chair of trustees, William Baxter, added: "I would like to thank Penny for her time with Hospitality Action, during which the charity has greatly increased its fundraising and services to make it relevant to today's industry and to help more people in times of need. We shall continue to build on her tremendous achievements and wish her continued success in the future."
