Chef Patrick Powell is to take over the space formerly occupied by Marcus Wareing's the Gilbert Scott within the St Pancras Renaissance hotel in London.
The space will be renamed the Midland Grand Dining Room and it is expected to reopen early next year following refurbishment.
It will mark the third collaboration between hotelier Harry Handelsman and Powell. The pair worked together at Chiltern Firehouse, where Powell was head chef, for four years, and in 2019 Powell opened his first restaurant, Allegra, located on the seventh floor of Handelsman’s Manhattan Loft Gardens development in Stratford.
Powell will continue to oversee the kitchen at Allegra, collaborating with head chef Atilla Gellen.
Parisian architect and designer Hugo Toro, responsible for the recent redesign of Booking Office 1869, will lead the refurbishment of the space.
Marcus Wareing's Gilbert Scott restaurant closed last year after 10 years of operation when the lease came to an end.
