Patricia Roig appointed head chef of Lima Floral

Spanish chef Patricia Roig has been appointed head chef of Lima Floral in London's Covent Garden.

The restaurant's sister site, the Michelin-starred Lima London in Fitzrovia, recently dropped its à la carte menu to offer a sharing plates concept, and it is understood that Roig will be making alterations to the menu at Lima Floral.

While studying tourism at the University of Seville, Roig undertook internships as a commis chef at Miranda & Suizo hotel in Madrid and as a chef de partie at Terraza Carmona restaurant in Almería.

Her first role in a professional kitchen was in 2003, when she was appointed senior chef de partie at the Michelin-starred Lillas Pastia in Huesca, Spain. In 2005, she returned to her hometown of Seville where she worked as sous chef at Abantal alongside friend and executive chef Julio Fernández.

She remained at the restaurant for eight years before moving to London in 2012, and has worked as a senior sous chef at Newman Street Tavern in Fitzrovia.

Lima London opened in 2012 and won its star in 2014 under chef patron Virgilio Martínez Véliz, shortly after the opening of Lima Floral. Véliz remains chef patron across the two sites and Robert Ortiz remains the group's head of culinary development, based at Lima London.

Lima London hopes to expand into other UK capitals in the future, however nothing has been confirmed yet.
