Oscar del Campo has been appointed general manager of the five-star, 267-bedroom Le Méridien Piccadilly, London. He returns to England after a gap of 11 years, having previously worked as a guest service agent and later front office manager at the Sheraton Skyline hotel in Heathrow until 2000.
In the interim, Del Camp has worked as general manger in several properties including the Arabella Sheraton Golf Hotel Son Vida in Mallorca, the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Towers, and since 2007 in a dual role looking after the Hotel Imperial and Hotel Bristol in Vienna.
The German-born Spaniard will report to Colin Bennett, area manager England, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, who said that he was delighted to welcome Del Campo back to England.
"Since leaving the Sheraton Skyline, Oscar has gained a wealth of experience in managing luxury hotels and I have no doubt that Le Méridien Piccadilly will benefit from his knowledge and expertise," said Bennett.
Le Méridien Piccadilly completed a refurbishment of its public areas in 2010, as well as a refresh of 173 of its bedrooms. The rest of the bedrooms will be completed by summer 2011, with an additional 13 bedrooms also being created.
Le Méridien, which currently has 107 hotels in 50 countries, has been operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts since 2005.
