Accor has signed a franchise agreement with Liverpool City Council to open a new 221-bedroom Novotel hotel in the city’s new £1b Paddington Village development.
Due to be completed in the second quarter of 2022, the hotel will be managed by Legacy Hotels & Resorts, the management company for Accor’s Pullman Liverpool.
The 16-storey tower will become the highest hotel in Liverpool, located opposite the new Royal Liverpool Hospital. The architecture design is being led by Ryder Architecture and the hotel’s public areas have been designed by Koncept.
Novotel Paddington Village will be the second Novotel property in Liverpool and the third within the UK. The midscale hotel brand is focused on modern design.
Phillip Lassman, vice-president of development for Accor Northern Europe, said: “Liverpool is a vibrant city with unrivalled musical heritage and cultural attractions and is bursting with character. We believe the new Novotel hotel will be a great fit for the Paddington Village area, offering both leisure and business travellers a city-central location with an internationally recognised brand.”
Joe Anderson, mayor of Liverpool, said: “This agreement is yet another statement of confidence from the private sector in Liverpool’s future. We are delighted to be working with Accor to develop a property which will be one of the new focal points of the city. Liverpool is known for its world-class hospitality and this new hotel will be a great addition to our offer.”
Andy Townsend, founding director and chief executive of Legacy Hotels & Resorts added: “The signing of Accor’s franchisee agreement with the city is a significant milestone in this project and we are delighted to have been selected to operate our second Accor-branded hotel in the region and third within the UK.”
