Nigel Haworth to reopen the Three Fishes for second time in 17 years

Nigel Haworth is to take the reins at the Three Fishes pub in Mitton, Lancashire, and will reopen the site for the second time in 17 years.

The chef and ambassador for the Michelin-starred Northcote hotel and restaurant originally launched the pub in 2004, transforming it from a derelict shell to the first of the Ribble Valley Inns group.

It was an instant success and won the Catey for Pub and Bar operator of the Year in 2005

However, the Three Fishes closed in 2019 following the sale of Ribble Valley Inns to Brunning & Price, the pub division of the Restaurant Group.

Now Haworth has announced the pub will reopen in October following some redevelopment work.

In a statement on Facebook, he said: “Coming back to The Three Fishes really does feel like coming home. It’s an incredible building steeped in history, set in a beautiful location. My team and I cannot wait to bring back a special dining experience for you all, in a real pub with great food.”

Plans are in place to install a one-acre orchard and permaculture plot to provide sustainable produce for the pub.

Haworth said the team will work with “top suppliers” alongside growing their own ingredients for seasonally focused menus.

In 2018 Haworth changed his role from chef-patron and joint managing director of Northcote to ambassador and he continues to oversee the internationally recognised Obsession food festival.
