New hotels announce opening dates as hospitality reopening in England confirmed for July

New hotels including Birch in Hertfordshire and the Nobu London Portman Square, which were set to open earlier this year, have announced their revised opening dates following Covid-19 delays.

Chris Penn’s 240-bedroom Birch hotel (pictured) was due to open in late April and has now announced it will open its doors for bookings on 3 August. The property’s Zebra Riding Club restaurant will open for bookings in early July.

Meanwhile, the 249-bedroom Nobu London Portman Square in Marylebone, which was due to open in July, has now said it will open in November.

The David Collins Studio-designed venue will be London’s second Nobu hotel and will see the Nobu Berkeley Street restaurant move within the hotel. Additional hotel facilities will include a 600-person ballroom, five meeting spaces, and gym and wellness facilities.

Prime minister Boris Johnson said earlier today that self-contained accommodation including hotels and most hospitality businesses including pubs and restaurants could reopen from 4 July, with the two-metre rule reduced to 'one-metre-plus'.
