Hand Picked Hotels has named the 800-year-old New Hall Hotel & Spa in Sutton Coldfield its Hotel of the Year.
The West Midlands hotel was selected from the group's 20-strong hotel portfolio in recognition of its "outstanding performance" in 2017.
The 60-bedroom, four-red-AA-star country house hotel won the title for its "solid financial performance", "ongoing positive feedback" and for achieving the top score across the portfolio for employee retention and satisfaction.
The group acquired the hotel in 2008 along with Hendon Hall in North London and Audleys Wood hotel in Basingstoke, Hampshire, all from Bridgehouse Hotels Group for an estimated £25-30m.
The property also features the two-AA-rosette Bridge restaurant, six meeting rooms accommodating up to 200 delegates, and a spa and health club.
Julia Hands, chairman and chief executive of Hand Picked Hotels, said guests had praised the team "for their warm welcome, attentive service and delivering a consistently high quality dining experience".
The accolade was presented to New Hall's general manager Jonathan Squire during the group's annual awards ceremony, held this year at Hand Picked's Buxted Park hotel in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.
Squire said: "I am thrilled to receive this award in recognition of all the hard work and dedication of the team."
Hands created Hand Picked Hotels in 2001 from a collection of hotels purchased with her husband, city financier Guy Hands.
