Wine specialist Neil Phillips, also known as the Wine Tipster has joined British horseracing charity Racing Welfare as an ambassador.
His new role will see Phillips play an important part in highlighting the charity's fundraising events and activities. Racing Welfare supports the workforce of British horseracing, including stud, stable and racecourse staff.
Phillips commented: “Hospitality is a key part of any day at the races, be it a fine dining experience or simply a cup of coffee and a sandwich. Catering for conferencing and events is also an important service offered by hospitality staff at racecourses. It’s important we highlight and support the many people employed in the hospitality sector of racing and I am delighted to be part of that by becoming an ambassador at Racing Welfare, whose commitment, energy and creativity I greatly admire.”
Phillips is a respected racing pundit, as well as a sommelier for Jockey Club racecourses, and presents at Goodwood, Ascot and York racecourses. He has worked in the wine and spirits industry for more than 30 years, including roles at Pernod Ricard and E & J Gallo. He has also been a judge for The Caterer’s Product Excellence Awards and for the Glass of Bubbly Awards.
