Plant-based fast-food chain Neat Burger has confirmed it will close four sites in London due to a “decrease in footfall”.
The brand, which is backed by racing driver Lewis Hamilton and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, was founded by Tommaso Chiabra in 2019.
Neat Burger opened its first site in London’s Mayfair in 2019 and grew to eight restaurants in the capital.
The Caterer understands the brand’s Liverpool Street, Canary Wharf, Oxford Street and Westfield Stratford sites will close before Christmas.
A spokesperson for the chain said the closures were spurred by a “shift towards hybrid-work leading to a natural decrease in footfall at some of our larger restaurants”.
“We are concentrating our efforts on our best performing restaurants, refining our menu, and supporting our partnership with Deliveroo which has recently enabled us to double our delivery radius across the city,” they added.
Neat Burger stressed the closures are part of a “strategic step in our broader plan for future expansion”, which will focus on smaller stores across multiple cities.
The business opened its first restaurant in Milan earlier this month. Neat Burger also has a site in New York and Dubai.
