Operators are being invited to share images of their hardworking kitchen colleagues for tomorrow's National KP day (22 June).
Organiser Winterhalter seeks to raise awareness of kitchen porters across the industry, and for every image shared on Twitter with the hashtag #kpday it will donate £1 to industry charity Hospitality Action, up to a maximum of £1,000.
Winterhalter UK managing director Stephen Kinkead said: "We've raised a lot of money for great causes in the past and we've had some great photos too. It's always very heartening how eager the industry is to celebrate the work KPs do. We're hoping to be able to raise lots of money for Hospitality Action.”
National KP Day is part of Winterhalter's annual quest to find the KP of the year, which is run in partnership with The Caterer.
This year ten KPs will be selected from all entries to make a shortlist before one lucky KP will win a prize package that includes the coveted KP of the Year trophy, a piece of Winterhalter kit worth up to £10,000 for the winning KP's employer, £1,000 in vouchers and a celebratory meal with friends and family in a casual-dining restaurant of the KP's choice.
