Nathan Outlaw to open seafood restaurant at the Goring hotel

Two-Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw is to partner with the Goring in London to open a seafood restaurant at the hotel.

Set to open in May 2019, the outlet will become the second restaurant at the five-red-AA-starred, 69-bedroom hotel alongside the Dining Room, which is headed by executive chef Shay Cooper and holds a Michelin star and three AA rosettes.

The announcement of the restaurant follows the news earlier this month that Outlaw's restaurant at the Capital hotel in nearby Knightsbridge will close at the end of March 2019 after six years. Beyond London, Outlaw operates four restaurants: three in Cornwall, including the two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac, and one in Dubai.

Jeremy Goring, chief executive and the fourth-generation owner of the hotel, said that his family has a long-standing relationship with Cornwall on his mother’s side and he regularly spends time in the county as an avid surfer.

“Some of the best seafood in the world comes from the pristine waters around Cornwall. We’re looking forward to bringing this West Country treasure to London, with the help of Nathan Outlaw.

“The restaurant will be all about simplicity on the plate, freshness, and our usual heartfelt British service.”

He added that the 60-seat restaurant will be “an eccentric, uplifting space” which is being created with “the help of some very special craftsmen and designers”.

Outlaw said: “Creating a new restaurant with such an iconic British hotel is a huge highlight in my career. I can't wait to get cooking!”

The Goring’s bar, adjacent to the new restaurant, will also be getting a new look by Sage to become "a very grown up space", serving cocktails using ingredients from the Goring’s garden, which are being grown with the help of leading herb expert Jekka McVicar.

Following the sale of the Capital hotel in January 2017 to the US-based Warwick Hotels and Resorts, the Goring is now the only family-owned five-AA-star hotel in London.
