Milk Beach to open Soho site next month

All-day Australian restaurant Milk Beach is expanding to London’s Soho with a new site opening on 12 September.

 

First opened in Queen’s Park, the group’s second restaurant will open in Soho Estates’ Ilona Rose House, with entrances on Greek Street and Manette Street.

 

Milk Beach Soho will offer new dinner and breakfast/lunch menus, a new line-up of cocktails and a greatly expanded wine list focused on independent low-intervention producers. Milk Beach has also recently launched a coffee roastery, Album Coffee Roasters, which will supply its own coffee to both locations.

 

Developed by head of food Darren Leadbeater, Milk Beach Soho’s menus will draw inspiration from South-East Asia and the Mediterranean. Coastal flavours will be joined by several BBQ-inspired dishes cooked over a robata grill. A few favourites from the Queen’s Park menu will feature in Soho, such as Chinese five spice BBQ pork rib dumplings, chilli pho ga consommé, and koji marinated chicken ‘schnitty’, fermented chilli mayonnaise, chicken salt chips.

 

New dishes on the opening menu will include:

  • Four Pillars gin bloody Mary oyster shooter
  • Grilled prawns, fermented chilli butter
  • Grilled oyster mushrooms, fermented mushroom glaze, macadamia hummus
  • Whole deep-fried seabass with nam jim jaew
  • Belted Galloway bone-in ribeye, tare, oyster and tarragon butter
  • Milk Beach 'Golden Gaytime' with toffee and buttermilk parfait, dark chocolate, malt and honeycomb crumb

 

Working with Modal Wines and Les Caves de Pyrene, alongside Liberty Wines and Alliance Wines, Milk Beach will offer more than 65 bottles from independent winemakers around the world.

 

Initially opening for dinner only, Milk Beach Soho will launch its relaxed, Sydney-inspired all-day breakfast and lunch menu later in the autumn. Dishes will include char sui pork, rösti, spring onions, fried egg; potato hash, crispy chilli kale, streaky bacon, bagna cauda; and roast chicken gravy bành mì.

 

The restaurant design has been inspired by the coastline of Sydney and the art deco architecture of its beachside buildings. Designed by A-nrd, whose recent projects have included Kol, Darjeeling Express, and Kudu, Milk Beach Soho has been designed with wood and stone and a palladiana terrazzo floor. As well as an eight-metre-long bar and the 90-cover dining room, the heated outdoor courtyard will have space for a further 65.
