Bouchon Racine among 18 new additions to Michelin Guide

Eighteen new restaurants including Henry Harris’ Bouchon Racine in London have been added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland’s selection this month.

It is the first set of new additions to the red book since it announced its 2023 star winners in March.

Michelin reveals new recommendations monthly based on its inspectors’ travels and the restaurants are highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol and added to its website and mobile app.

It will not be confirmed if the restaurants will receive a star, Bib Gourmand or any other awards until the next formal Michelin Guide ceremony, which is likely to be early next year.

The guide said Harris’ Bouchon Racine served “the kind of cooking you always enjoy on holiday in France and wish you could find at home”.

Other new additions included Ophelia, the French brasserie in Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which was opened this year by self-taught chef Nick Grieves who is also behind the Patricia restaurant in Jesmond.

Michelin also recognised Journey in Cheltenham, which aims to put “the fun into fine dining” and serves six and 12-course tasting menus under head chef Jeff Lewis.

Strakers in Notting Hill was also recommended for its “no frills” cooking. Chef Thomas Straker gained a large TikTok fanbase with his cooking demonstrations during lockdown.
