Michael O'Hare to relaunch the Rabbit in the Moon with "stronger and bolder" menu

The Rabbit in the Moon restaurant in Manchester is to be relaunched on Thursday following a three-month closure.

However, following the departure of head chef Luke Cockerill nine months after opening, the restaurant closed at the beginning of this year.

Alongside the appointment of John Granaghan as head chef, O’Hare will now be more closely involved in running the restaurant as he splits his time between his one-Michelin-starred restaurant the Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds and Manchester at the Rabbit in the Moon and the development of the Man Who Fell To Earth in Stocks hotel, which will launch later this year. Granaghan previously worked with O’Hare in Leeds.

The new Asian-inspired tasting menu at the Rabbit in the Moon is said to be “stronger, bolder and refined” compared to its previous format. Previous plans to focus on a protein-heavy menu have changed with a selection of vegetarian dishes now on offer.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said: “Having taking learnings from the six months post-launch, as well as his one-Michelin-starred restaurant the Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds, Michael will lead the team in the kitchen on his mission to push the boundaries of fine dining in the north west.”

Set dishes will include langoustine toast, soy and ginger glazed pork cheek, unagi bao, native lobster with Thai flavours and fillet of beef with salt and pepper prawn. A white chocolate passion fruit and peppercorn éclair will be among the desserts.

Average price for lunch and dinner will be £45 and £70 respectively, excluding beverages.
