Meiko China donates machines to help fight coronavirus

Meiko China is donating two dishwashers to Huanggang, one of the cities most affected by the coronavirus outbreak in China.

It is thought that the disinfectant cleaning carried out in the machines will be effective against the virus.

The two hood-type dishwashing machines and three cleaning and disinfection machines will be delivered to the crisis management team in Huanggang within the next few days, after which they will be distributed to hospitals.

Thomas Hegenberg, managing director of Meiko China, commented: "We have witnessed the wave of infection and the daily fight against the virus at close quarters. It soon became clear to us that, if we can help alleviate the situation with our technology, then of course we will."

The outbreak has also affected Meiko as an employer, with more than 200 employees in China alone, which has been hit particularly hard.

Meiko managing director Dr Stefan Scheringer added: "With our technology and expertise we want to – and we can – try to help to put the virus in its place."

Stricter hygiene regulations with temperature measurements and face mask directives are in force in China. Meiko employees have been provided with respirator masks and all trips and visits to crisis areas are initially cancelled until mid-February.
