Meat Liquor buys London pub the Dartmouth Arms

Meat Liquor has bought the Dartmouth Arms pub in London’s Forest Hill, which it will relaunch on 1 July.

It marks a return to the roots of the restaurant brand, which ran a pop-up above a pub in New Cross in its early days in 2011. The residency was so successful it led to the opening of the first Meat Liquor restaurant on Welbeck Street in London’s West End that same year.

Posting on Instagram, founder Scott Collins wrote: “10 looong years later we’ve gone full [circle] & now own @thedartmoutharms.

“This VERY handsome Victorian Public house will be getting a MEAT makeover and pulling pints from July 1st. It’ll be respectful of the building, area & pub traditions alike.”

He added that customers could expect beer, burgers, Sunday roasts and fish and chips on Fridays.

Meat Liquor also runs nine restaurants in London and one each in Brighton and Leeds.

Collins previously worked with the Capital Pub Company to open venues in South East London. The pub group was sold to Greene King for £70m in 2011 when it had 34 sites.
