Meadow Brown secures £3m Lincoln Cathedral Café contract

Meadow Brown Restaurants has secured the five-year deal to run Lincoln Cathedral Café with a contract value in excess of £3m.

The café, which is due to open this summer, will be in the Old Deanery Visitor Centre, which has been at the heart of a £16m restoration project over the past five years.

The menu at Lincoln Cathedral Café will use local suppliers where possible and will include breakfasts, light bites and main courses, as well as afternoon teas. Meadow Brown will also provide catering packages for the community meeting rooms at the Cathedral and for some events.

Meadow Brown operates several cafés and restaurants at locations including Nene Park and Nottingham Castle.

Raj Regmi, managing director of Meadow Brown, said: “We have a proud history of using local produce and suppliers, which we will continue at Lincoln Cathedral. We believe we have the right attitude to deliver the best service; it is what we pride ourselves upon. Our menu will feature popular local items cooked to order by our skilled team of chefs, and the service will be delivered to the highest standard by our friendly front of house team.”

Will Harrison, chapter clerk of Lincoln Cathedral, said: “We are very much looking forward to working with Meadow Brown and seeing the Old Deanery Visitor Centre begin to come to life following the years of hard work which have led up to this point. The new space is fresh, modern and welcoming, and retains many period details which create a unique atmosphere imbued with history.

“Hospitality is at the heart of the Cathedral’s mission and the setting of the café, overlooking the recently landscaped Dean’s green, offers an inviting atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy the delicious and nourishing food and drink that Meadow Brown’s team will provide.”

Lincoln Cathedral's café and shop will be the first parts of the Old Deanery Visitor Centre to open, with further spaces and exhibits following later in the year.
