Mary-Ellen McTague launches crowdfunding campaign for new restaurant

Former Fat Duck sous chef Mary-Ellen McTague has today launched a £20,000 crowdfunding campaign for a new Manchester restaurant.

The former chef-proprietor of Aumbry in Prestwich and BBC Two Great British Menu competitor plans to launch a restaurant, bar and bakery in Chorlton's Creameries building, retaining the name, in partnership with baker Sophie Yeoman and designer Soo Wilkinson. The venue is expected to open March 2018.

The Creameries will focus on freshly-baked bread, cheese, beer and wine, as well as Sunday lunches, and be a family-friendly venue, offering an area for children to play filled with books and arts and crafts.

Food will be seasonal and homemade or locally-sourced where possible, with pastries and sandwiches to go or breakfasts to eat in available from 8am; a lunch menu of salads, soups, sandwiches, pies and cheeses; and a dinner menu of snacks, small plates and ‘suppers' to go with bread and cheese.

There will also be a children's menu and a drinks menu of fresh coffees, teas and juices, and natural wines, local beers and seasonal cocktails later in the day.
