Spanish food importer and wholesaler Mevalco has appointed Martin Sheridan as its new managing director.
In his new role, Sheridan will be working closely with co-founder and sales director, and former managing director, David Menendez, and executive chairman Justin Slawson, former founder of the Cheese Cellar Company.
Sheridan will be focusing on development of the business, which has plans for both the foodservice sector and potentially within retail markets. He will split his time between Spain and the UK.
Sheridan said: "We are all about bringing fresh innovation to chefs' menus here in the UK and I am delighted to be leading such a vibrant and exciting company that has a great future."
Sheridan spent the early part of his career managing hospitality businesses across Europe, Russia and the US before joining caterer Compass Group, managing catering services for IBM and Wyeth BioPharma, before moving into an operations management role. Subsequent roles included country manager for coffee company Pelican Rouge and managing director of Layton Fern & Co (Ferns Coffee).
