The 272-bedroom Park Regis Birmingham hotel has appointed Mark Payne as general manager, replacing Robin Ford who has moved to an operations director role with Fiveways Hospitality, the management company that runs the hotel.
Payne joined the hotel from De Vere Tortworth Court in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, where he was general manager for more than six years.
He previously spent 14 months as general manager of the Oxford-Witney Four Pillars hotel and owned and ran a gite complex in France for six years. His 26 years in the hospitality industry was kick started by serving food in his parents' pub in Herefordshire.
Payne said he was looking forward to working with Ford and the rest of the team as work towards establishing Park Regis as "the foremost luxury hotel in the city".
He added: "It's a truly exciting time for Birmingham, with the city being named the candidate city to bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, HS2 rail network on the horizon and a host of ambitious developments and infrastructure schemes."
Ford said: "Park Regis Birmingham has quickly made its mark in the city, offering four-star deluxe accommodation and facilities for both leisure and business customers. With my move to operations director we need a general manager who has solid experience and a great track record and I'm delighted Mark is joining us at such a pivotal time for the city."
Park Regis Birmingham opened in March 2016 following a £100m development. It is operated by Fiveways Hospitality under a master licence agreement with StayWell Hospitality Group, the Australian owner of the Park Regis brand.
