Mandarin Oriental's restaurants, event spaces and spa reopen

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London's restaurants, event spaces and spa have reopened today, five months after a fire broke out at the hotel.

The five-red-AA-star Knightsbridge hotel's 189 guest rooms and suites are set to follow, opening in the spring.

General manager Amanda Hyndman said: "We have been humbled by the many kindnesses of the industry and the general public alike, as well as the loyalty and dedication of our circa 600 colleagues.

"It is beyond exciting to at last be reopening and we cannot wait to welcome our friends and clients back."

Among the areas reopening today are Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Bar Boulud, the Rosebery and the Mandarin bar.

The hotel was forced to close in June, just a week after it had unveiled a multimillion-pound renovation.

The blaze is believed to have started when the by-product of welding work landed on the felt lining of a planted wall, setting it alight.
