Mamasan to open 200-cover restaurant at Liverpool One

Hospitality entrepreneur Brad Stevens is to open his Mamasan restaurant concept in a 6,875 sq ft site at the Liverpool One development.

Mamasan offers south east Asian-inspired food and cocktails and made its debut in Glasgow (pictured) in July 2020.

The 200-cover Liverpool site will open once national lockdown restrictions are eased, and will feature a mezzanine and roof terrace.

In 1999 Stevens founded the Bar Soba restaurant group, which now trades from five locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Leeds. He also created the Pizza Punks group, which has restaurants in Glasgow, Newcastle and Belfast.

Stevens said: “The gap in the market for this kind of experiential dining in Liverpool, combined with the discovery of this attractive and versatile space at Liverpool One, made this an opportunity too good to pass up.”

Liverpool One opened in 2008 and is one of the largest shopping centre and leisure complexes in the UK. Two of its anchor tenants, Debenhams and Topshop, will not reopen after lockdown after the brands were bought by online retailers.

However, casual dining chains Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Zizzi have both re-committed to the development after their parent companies underwent restructuring last year.

Golf simulation concept On the Green and the Bitter Twisted Drinks Company have also signed up to open at the complex.
