LVMH to launch luxury Cheval Blanc hotel brand in London

French luxury goods company LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton is to bring its exclusive Cheval Blanc brand to London with the launch of an 83-bedroom hotel in Mayfair.

A planning application has been submitted to Westminster City Council to redevelop a number of existing buildings, dating from the 1960s and 1970s, to create a "world class hotel", up to six private residences and retail units.

Located within a seven-storey property and a linked 11-storey property between New Bond Street, Grafton Street and Bruton Lane, the hotel will feature a raft of food and beverage outlets including a lobby bar and all-day restaurant on the ground floor, a fine-dining restaurant on the first floor and a bar and roof terrace on level six.

There will also be a spa, gym and a swimming pool. The bedrooms will range in size from 48 sq m to 635 sq m.

Designed by architects Foster + Partners, which was responsible for ME hotel on London's Aldwych, the hotel will feature a new public arts installation "that will celebrate and contribute to Mayfair's reputation as a global centre for fine art".

The hotel will be operated by LVMH Hotel Management, the experiential luxury division of LVMH, which last month completed its acquisition of the 46-strong Belmond collection of hotels, restaurants, train and river cruise businesses for $3.2b (£2.5b). LVMH also owns Bvlgari hotels, Dom Pérignon, Krug, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior Couture and TAG Heuer.

Founded in 2006, the Cheval Blanc brand currently has four hotels in France (two), the Maldives (pictured) and Saint-Barthélemy in the Caribbean, with a fifth due to open in Paris.

LVMH declined to comment about the plans.
