Lutyens Grill at the Ned to open to non-members

The Ned, London's most ambitious hotel opening of 2017, is to open an eighth restaurant to the public on Saturday.

Lutyens Grill, which was previously open to only Ned's Club members and hotel guests, serves lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday, dinner on Saturday and Sunday lunch.

The restaurant is located in a wood-panelled, ground-floor dining room, which once housed the bank manager's office in the former headquarters of the Midland Bank. It is separate from the open lobby of the 252-bedroom hotel, which houses a further seven food and beverage outlets.

Its design is reminiscent of a 1920s gentlemen's club, with a restored parquet floor and Chesterfields sofas reupholstered in Gainsborough silk.

The British-focused menu is devised by head chef Jason Loy, who previously worked at Soho House & Co's Cafe Monico and Dean Street Townhouse. Starters include Dorset crab raviolo with shellfish bisque (£15), hay-smoked venison carpaccio with horseradish (£15), and langoustine cocktail with avocado and pickled fennel (£26).

Also on offer are salads, such as chargrilled cauliflower and superfood salad (£12); and meat dishes carved from a trolley, including rack of English veal, Var salmon en croute and Hereford beef fillet Wellington (all at £26).

Grill dishes include two sharing options: the 36-day-aged Hereford T-bone (£90) and the 40-day-aged Hereford Tomahawk (£84), while individual dishes include the Gloucester 38-day-aged sirloin (£32), pork cutlet (£28) and turbot (£34).

For dessert, diners can choose between gianduia mousse with pan-roasted plums, hazelnut and chocolate soil; clementine parfait with chocolate ganache and shiso, and poached quince with pain d'epice and Earl Grey ice-cream.

A wide range of cocktails and craft beers are available, alongside wines from classic and boutique vineyards.

Lutyens Grills is named after Sir Edwin ‘Ned' Lutyens, the architect who designed the Midland Bank building in 1924. The Ned, which opened as a hotel in April as a collaboration between Sydell Group and Soho House & Co, incorporates a total of nine restaurants and Ned's Club, where members have access to a rooftop pool, gym, spa, hammam and the Vault bar and lounge.
