Lussmanns to open restaurant in Berkhamsted

Sustainable fish and grill restaurant brand Lussmanns is to open a new site in Hertfordshire this year.

The group’s next restaurant will launch in a Grade II-listed building, previously a Bills restaurant, in Berkhamsted in November.

Founder Andrei Lussmann opened his first cafe in London's Ladbroke Grove in 2002 and his debut fish and grill restaurant in Hertford in 2004. This was followed by openings in St Albans, Harpenden (pictured), Hitchin and a site in Tring, which closed permanently during the pandemic.

The brand is a founding member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) and claims to be the only UK restaurant group with a menu that is 100% Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified.

"I believe it is perfectly possible to be both ethical and profitable: serving fantastic food and drink that is beautifully prepared and presented but also sustainable,” said Lussmann.

“I am looking forward to bringing Lussmanns' brand of accessible sustainable dining to more people across the UK.”

Lussmanns is backed by serial hospitality investor and former PizzaExpress chairman Luke Johnson, who is a major shareholder in the business.
