Loungers founder Alex Reilley appointed to Hubbox board

Alex Reilley, co-founder and chairman of cafe-bar group Loungers, has joined the board of American street food chain Hubbox as non-executive chairman.

West Country-based, independent burger business Hubbox was founded in St Ives, Cornwall in 2003 by Richard Boon. The company recently opened its sixth outlet on Whiteladies Road in Bristol at a former Las Iguanas site.

The group reported it is on track to post turnover of £6m in its current financial year and intended to open 10 sites by the end of 2018 as part of its plans to grow to 20 sites over the next four years. In January this year Hubbox received a £2.2m investment from Provenance Investment Partners to fund growth.

Current Hubbox non-executive chairman Mark Harper will remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Reilley said: "The Hubbox proposition is very strong. The funding for continued growth has been secured and the business is supported by a knowledgeable, enthusiastic board which makes this an exciting business to be involved with."

Boon said: "I was lucky to meet Alex and to find he was also a Hubbox fan. I have often used him as a sounding board and his advice has always been clear and on point. With Alex as chairman we have now formalised this arrangement. His guidance will be invaluable in our next stage of growth."
