The London bistro will reopen at the end of August following a series of ‘very overdue and necessary’ renovations.

The Andrew Edmunds restaurant in London’s Soho will close for a month-and-a-half-long refurbishment starting from next week.

In an email to diners, the restaurant said: “Due to some very overdue and necessary structural works Andrew Edmunds Restaurant will be closing for a few weeks from Friday 12 July. We will be back open and raring to go from the end of August.”

Andrew Edmunds was established in 1985 by its eponymous late founder, who opened the site next to his art dealership with the aim of creating a restaurant he would want as a neighbour.

Edmunds died in September 2022 and is remembered as a “true pillar of Soho”, the “best kind of restaurateur” and “an ardent stickler of the traditional, the scuffed, the unfashionable, the classic, the unfussy, the great value, the seasonal and the functional”.

The restaurant continues to serve its daily-changing menu of classic comfort foods and seasonal produce.

In the email, the restaurant team said it would still take advance bookings for both private dining rooms.
