Lewis Hamilton's Neat Burger plans major UK expansion

Neat Burger, the plant-based burger chain backed by Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, is planning to open at least five further UK restaurants this year.

Since 2019 the group has opened in London’s Oxford Circus, Soho and Camden and is available on Deliveroo across the capital.

It is due to expand across London this year with restaurants set to open in Victoria in March, Canary Wharf in April, central London in May and the City in August. A location in a major shopping centre will also launch in June. A spokesperson told The Caterer all openings will be dine-in restaurants, not just delivery locations.

Neat Burger is also in advanced talks on an additional three UK sites, which will be announced later this year. These are expected to include restaurants in train stations and ‘other major cities’ around the country.

Neat Burger is backed by Hamilton as well as hospitality organisation the Cream Group and Italian entrepreneur Tommaso Chiabra, an investor in plant-based meat substitute company Beyond Meat.

Earlier this week Neat Burger announced the launch of its first plant-based fish burger, named the Filet-no-Fish, made with jackfruit cooked in breadcrumbs and served in a bun with lettuce and tartare sauce.

The restaurant chain also has its sights on international expansion with a view to opening across Europe, the US and Middle East in future.
