Le Cordon Bleu London has launched its annual Julia Child Scholarship, which this year aims to set aspiring food entrepreneurs on the path to business success.
Competitors will be asked to pitch a business idea in their applications and explain why it's something they wish to do.
The winner will receive prizes worth more than £40,000, including a place on Le Cordon Bleu's Diplôme de Pâtisserie, a three-month Le Cordon Bleu diploma in culinary management; an internship at the Savoy Hotel; and 12 months accommodation provided by Londonist.
Culinary arts director at Le Cordon Bleu, chef Emil Minev, said: "As an institute with a rich heritage spanning over 120 years, Le Cordon Bleu has a long-standing reputation of training the finest chefs and most innovative food entrepreneurs in the world. This year's scholarship will showcase this and offer a unique platform for those with exciting food business ideas."
This year's prize will be presented by Le Cordon Bleu alumna Mary Berry. As part of the 2019 scholarship, alumni including Luiz Hara, Georgia Green, Dhruv Mittal and Evelina Ogorzale will also mentor the winner.
