Walnut House at the Duncombe Arms

The two-AA-rosette Duncombe Arms pub in Ellastone on the Staffordshire and Derbyshire border has opened Walnut House, in a 10-bedroom property adjacent to the pub.

Each room is different, but all feature striking wallpapers and luxurious fabrics, fluted armchairs, bespoke writing desks and artworks from the Crane Kalman Gallery. Bathrooms have colourful tiled floors, waterfall showers and Bamford toiletries.

In the pub itself, a regularly changing menu is rooted in classic British cooking, showcasing sausages and wild meat from local family butcher Paul Shum as well as homemade bread.

The pub works with Bibendum and specialist suppliers, offering 98 wines, 28 gins, 30 whiskeys and beers, including the pub's own Duncombe Ale.
