Latest openings: the Tasting Room at Ocean, Honey & Smoke, Hotel Indigo Durham and more

The Tasting Room at Ocean Chef Will Holland, who left Coast restaurant in Pembrokeshire last year to become executive chef of the Atlantic Hotel in Jersey, has launched the Tasting Room in the hotel's Ocean restaurant.

 

The private dining room serves Holland's seven-course tasting menus and hosts just 14 covers over five tables. The chef uses local ingredients and produce from Jersey and its waters, served with wine flights selected by the hotel's food and beverage manager, Jaroslav Sedlacek.

 

The space, described as "refined and sophisticated", is open for dinner from Tuesday through to Saturday, and may be booked for exclusive use.

Big Moose Coffee Co Big Moose Coffee Co has opened its first café at St David's in Cardiff. The café is supported by charity Llamau and it employs people affected by homelessness to help get them back into work through barista training and career mentoring. The café's refurbishment was funded by a seven-day Kickstarter campaign, which raised £30,000.

Honey & Smoke Honey & Smoke, the Middle Eastern grill restaurant from Honey & Co that originally opened in 2016, has reopened following a refurbishment. It is now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hotel Indigo Durham As part of InterContinental Hotels Group's push into the boutique sector, Hotel Indigo Durham has opened in the Grade II-listed former Old Shire hall, once Durham's University's administrative headquarters. The hotel bedrooms feature the university's colour purple and tapestry details.

Omar's Place Mediterranean restaurant Omar's Place has opened in Pimlico, London, from restaurateur Omar Shabaan, whose family runs the Andrea Mariouteya hospitality group. The restaurant serves contemporary tapas, such as carabinero prawn with crispy rice. A wine cellar will open later in the year, along with an outside terrace.

The Cherry Tree Olney Oakman Inns has opened the Cherry Tree pub and restaurant in Olney, Buckinghamshire, having acquired the freehold for £1.5m and invested £2m in restoring the Grade II-listed former residential care home. The pub, which is named after the town's cherry fair, is decorated with antiques and cherry tree-themed locally sourced works of art.

The Little Ship Inn The Little Ship in Portland, Dorset, has reopened following a £250,000 investment from Admiral Taverns after Kevin Moore took over the pub last year. The pub features a beer garden and skittle alley and offers a selection of speciality rums, including some produced in the local area.
