Latest openings: Brassierie Prince by Alain Roux, Smiths of Smithfield, the Little Chartroom and more

A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors

Brasserie Prince by Alain Roux

The five-red-AA-star, 188-bedroom Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh has replaced its Hadrian's brasserie and Balmoral bar with Brasserie Prince by Alain Roux.

In collaboration with Alain Roux, chef-patron of the three-Michelin-starred Waterside Inn in Bray, Berkshire, and his father, the chef-restaurateur Michel Roux, Brasserie Prince pairs Scottish produce with classic French cooking. The seasonally changing menu is rooted in French bistro dishes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, as well as light bites and sharing plates at the bar, and seafood from a raw bar.

Now with a separate entrance on Princes Street, the space has undergone a complete redesign. A colour palette of soft blues, green hues and blush pink tones complement the high-gloss lacquer and timber-panelled walls. The design also incorporates quintessentially Scottish timber, soft leather and wool, as well as antique mirrors and brass detailing.
