Latest investment in Galgorm Resort will project business on global stage

The four-AA-silver-star, 122-bedroom Galgorm Resort & Spa in Ballymena, County Antrim, is to create a two-acre spa garden as part of a wider £2m investment.

The money will also be spent on a two-tier fitness suite, spa eatery and expansion of the Fratelli Italian restaurant from 100 seats to 180 seats.

Due to open in July 2017, the spa garden will sit alongside the Thermal Spa Village and will feature olives trees, a water feature from local artist Billy McCullough and relaxation beds.

Located on the banks of the River Maine, within a 163-acre estate 30 miles north of Belfast, Galgorm completed a £10m cash injection into the business two years ago, which resulted in the creation of the spa and 48 additional bedrooms.

Colin Johnston, general manager of the resort, said that the latest developments at Galgorm illustrates that Northern Ireland can compete on the global stage. "Our investment is entirely privately funded and clearly displays our faith in the future growth and prosperity of Ballymena.

"We believe that through this development we can continue to raise international awareness of the Ballymena Borough and Northern Ireland".
