Kricket secures more funding ahead of fourth restaurant opening

Modern-Indian restaurant group Kricket has secured a new round of funding from White Rabbit Projects (WRP) to power further UK expansion.

Co-founders Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby launched Kricket in 2015 as a pop-up in London’s Pop Brixton.

The pair opened their first permanent site in London’s Soho in 2016 after receiving initial funding from WRP, which was followed by the relocation of the pop-up to a full-time restaurant in Brixton in May 2018.

They also opened a restaurant in London’s White City in 2018 and are now due to launch their fourth site in Canary Wharf in spring 2024.

The new 85-cover restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

It will be situated next to the group’s second cocktail bar, Soma, which originally launched in Soho 2021.

Kricket employs over 120 people and in 2022 generated sales of £7.3m. As of 30 September 2023, like for like sales were up 17% on the prior year.
