Indian restaurant Kricket, shortlisted for the Cateys 2017 newcomer award, will be closing its Pop Brixton site after nearly two years to find a permanent residence.
Kricket Brixton's last day of trading will be Saturday 27 May, when it will host a ‘last supper' event, with a menu of the restaurant's ‘greatest hits', including Keralan fried chicken, bhelpuri, crab meen moilee and hake with malai sauce.
Chef Will Bowlby and Rik Campbell launched Kricket in June 2015 inside one of Pop Brixton's shipping containers as a 20-cover restaurant serving Indian small plates and cocktails, and opened its first permanent site in January in London Soho. The team has announced it will begin searching for sites in Brixton first.
Kricket has been backed by the White Rabbit Growth Fund, a hospitality investment vehicle founded by Chris Miller, a former commercial director of Soho House Group.
In a statement, Bowlby and Campbell said: "Pop provided a great opportunity, allowing us to bring our interpretation of Indian food and flavours to London and we're sure it will continue to exist as a brilliant platform for others that are there. We couldn't have asked for a better place to open our first restaurant, and whilst we will be focusing our attention on our restaurant in Soho for the time being, we hope to return to Brixton one day soon."
