KFC reopens some restaurants for delivery

KFC has opened 11 of its UK restaurants for delivery only with new procedures and a limited menu, which it says is answering the need for “affordable, accessible food”.

Employees are returning to work on an opt-in basis, and only those who can travel to work without the use of public transport have been asked to return.

New measures include placing tape on the floor to create designated working zones two metres apart in sites and operating with just one person per station and fewer team members, with the limited menu preventing the need for team members to cross stations.

Staff packing orders are also wearing gloves and markings on the floors have been placed to help delivery drivers keep their distance while they’re waiting to collect orders.

Last week KFC donated more than 3,000 meals to NHS and key workers and has committed to provide 100 free meals from each open restaurant every Tuesday to those on the frontline.

A KFC spokesperson said: “Over the last week, we’ve reopened 11 of our restaurants in the UK. They’re open for delivery only and are serving a limited menu, operated by fewer team members with new procedures in place to help ensure we’re following social distancing guidelines. There’s still a need for affordable, accessible food at this time – so we want to do our part.

“We’ve also donated thousands of meals from all our open restaurants to those on the frontline, including the NHS and key workers, in partnership with Deliveroo, and will continue to do so each week whilst the situation continues.”
