Just Eat reports 45% revenue increase in 2017 following acquisitions

Food delivery giant Just Eat has reported that revenue increased by 45% to £546m in 2017, helped by its acquisition of Hungry House.

 

In the UK 10.5 million active customers purchased £1.9bn of food from 28,400 restaurant partners delivering revenue of £304m.

 

However the company as a whole posted pre-tax losses of £76m for 2017, due to exceptional items of £191.1m related to acquisitions.

 

Orders across the global business were up 26% with international sales representing 44% of the business, which has its head office in Hertfordshire, UK.

 

Peter Plumb, Just Eat's chief executive officer, said: "2017 was a record year for Just Eat. We helped 21.5 million customers order 172 million takeaways around the world, growing group revenue by 45% to £546m. More Restaurant Partners joined our platform, increasing the breadth of choice for our customers and strengthening the group's geographical coverage to over 82,000 restaurants.

 

"As the new CEO, I will be increasing our investment in brand, developing markets and delivery services that will be engineered to complement our thriving marketplace business by bringing more choice to our takeaway-loving customers."
