Eleven new restaurants including Knipe Grill at Gilpin Lake House in Windermere have been added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland’s selection this month.
Michelin reveals new recommendations monthly based on its inspectors’ travels and the restaurants are highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol and added to its website and mobile app.
It will not be confirmed if the restaurants will receive a star, Bib Gourmand or any other awards until the next formal Michelin Guide ceremony, which is likely to be early next year.
The June additions are described as “varying in style and approach, providing something to excite a wide range of diners – Armenian, Spanish, Italian and Japanese culinary influences are among those on show”.
The guide said Plates by Purnell’s in Birmingham, located near Glynn Purnell’s Michelin-starred flagship, serves “authentic, enjoyable Spanish flavours” with dishes such as cassoulet of chickpeas and patatas bravas.
Michelin also recognised Knipe Grill at Gilpin Lake House in Bowness-on-Windermere, which joined Gilpin Spice and SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel since the departure of executive chef Hrishikesh Desai in December, for its combination of “luxurious” and “playful” dining.
