Jeremy Alderton has been appointed managing director of specialist independent school caterer Palmer & Howells.
Alderton started his career as a chef for restaurants and five-star hotels before joining Sodexo, where he progressed from catering manager to managing director. He spent almost 20 years at the business, developing experience in the education and business and industry sectors.
He joins Palmer & Howells from independent caterers Cleverchefs, where he was chief operating officer.
Since his appointment in July, Palmer & Howells said Alderton had been committed to creating seasonal menus from locally sourced ingredients.
Alderton said: “I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead the Palmer & Howells business which encapsulates what is important for clients, pupils and adults – appetising, modern and healthy food which is freshly prepared, bursting with flavour and locally and ethically sourced.”
Ben Wood, chief executive of Palmer & Howells, added: “We are delighted to welcome Jeremy as our new managing director as he brings with him many years’ expertise and an in-depth knowledge of both the independent education and business & industry markets.”
Palmer & Howells was founded in 1998 and now caters for around 20 independent day and boarding schools.
