Javier Beneyto has been appointed general manager of the Como Metropolitan London hotel.
Beneyto's appointment follows the departure of Thomas Orchard, who oversaw both the Como Metropolitan London and Como The Halkin as regional general manager for the last 18 years and has left to become managing director of Carlisle Bay in Antigua. David Monson will continue as general manager of COMO The Halkin and Orchard's role will not be replaced.
Beneyto joins the 144-bedroom Mayfair hotel after having launched the Como Uma Canggu in Bali. The hotel is set to launch a new restaurant concept in September, replacing the Met Bar, London's first private members' bar.
Born in Madrid, Beneyto became hotel manager of the Villa Magna hotel in Madrid in 2009. He joined Como Hotels and Resorts in 2012 as acting general manager of Como Cocoa Island in the Maldives before filling the same role in London at Como The Halkin. He then moved to the United States as the opening general manager of Como's Metropolitan Miami Beach hotel before relocating to Bali.
The hotel completed a multimillion-pound redesign in 2015. The hotel has been named the Metropolitan ever since a major re-fit in 1997. Founded by Christina Ong, Como Hotels and Resorts comprises 14 properties worldwide.
