Jason Atherton has announced plans to re-launch the City Social bar in a bid to attract late night diners and drinkers.
The re-named Social 24 will have a new food and drink offering as well as a resident DJ from 9pm on Thursday and Friday nights.
The new-look bar will launch on 12 April with a cocktail menu curated by group bar manager Jay Doy, which will take inspiration from the London landmarks that can be seen from the restaurant and bar on the 24th floor of Tower 42.
The Shard cocktail (£12) will be made with Barcardi heritage, lime, watermelon, passionfruit, Skekforde rum mixer and Mojito granita; while the Monument (£13) pays homage to commemoration of the Fire of London with Don Julio, fire-roasted pineapple syrup, dragonfruit, jalapeños, charcoal and cinnamon.
Doy said: "We are extremely lucky to work in a place with incredible views across London, and as a result I thought it would make sense for the new drinks at Social 24 to be inspired by the different landmarks that can be seen from the bar. We wanted each drink to be influenced by an icon whether that was the size, the location, the colour, the name or the history as well as bringing a touch of modern elegance and glamour to the City."
Alongside the new drinks offering executive chef Paul Walsh has created a new menu offering a three-course set lunch priced at £28 including heritage beetroot salad, goats' cheese and watercress; Cotswolds chicken and Madeira terrine with grilled sourdough and a choice of Vanilla crème brûlée or Valrhona chocolate mousse.
In the evening an à la carte menu will be on offer in the bar, with a selection of small and large dishes, including; Frenchman Creek oysters with dashi, melon and yuzu; Smoked pork empanadas with harissa and red onion compote and Buccleuch Estate beef fillet with duck fat chips accompanied with béarnaise or peppercorn sauce.
Social 24 will be open from midday until 2am, Monday to Friday, and from 4pm on Saturdays.
