Jason Atherton to open new café and restaurant at the Biltmore hotel

Jason Atherton is to open a new restaurant concept within the Biltmore hotel in London’s Mayfair this month.

The Café Biltmore Restaurant and Terrace will launch for outdoor dining on 21 April using the hotel’s extended 70-capacity terrace.

It comes nearly two years after Atherton opened fine dining restaurant the Betterment at the Grosvenor Square hotel as part of a £60m redevelopment of the property. The chef also oversees the wider food and beverage offering at the site, including its Pine Bar and Tea Lounge.

Café Biltmore will open from Wednesday to Sunday from 12pm to 10pm and serve cocktails, wines, Champagne and casual dishes, such as Atherton's take on a fried chicken burger (pictured), homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza, and puddings including a lemon tart with yoghurt sorbet.

Reservations for outdoor seating are now available, and Café Biltmore will reopen for indoor service on 17 May if government restrictions allow.

Atherton said: “After months at home, I wanted to create the opportunity for people to socialise once again, and the beautiful surroundings of the Biltmore Mayfair – with an outdoor terrace now almost double the size of its previous form – was the perfect place to realise this.”

The Betterment will also reopen later this year, though a date has yet to be confirmed.

Together with his wife Irha, Atherton oversees six London restaurants and nine international sites as part of his Social Company hospitality group.

The Biltmore hotel was formerly the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair before it relaunched in 2019 under Hilton’s luxury LXR Hotels and Resorts brand.
